Hi everyone,

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner, the next full blog will be out beginning of this coming week, taking a little longer coming back to earth than I expected. Still a bit of a pain typing as well – physically, not mentally *chuckle* – and I imagine the expedition will not fully sink in and hit me for a while yet – 27 days on the ice… wow!

A little to go before I am fully recovered. Quite funny really, almost like clockwork, as soon as my body knew it was over and could relax everything started to hurt. My joints in particular have suffered, initially my elbows would just give out and not support my weight if I tried a push up, and you should have seen me on a set of stairs with my knees *chuckle*, quite an amusing sight 🙂

My fingers have shed their pads, the ends still feel thick and tingly though, but at least it is only my little toes now feeling like bricks which is an upside. I have finally taken off the tape on my right big toe too, which we had to drain on the trip and secure so the dead nail would not cause grief like catching and tearing off.

Overall, nothing that will not heal so could not be happier, and getting better each day.

Over the course of the next few blogs I will be sharing some insight into the trip and photos – the helicopter flight and drop off, what camp life involved, the trials faced, visiting the abandoned cold war DYE II station and how it was finally seeing land and finishing the expedition.
